A Public Space. A Community’s Space.

A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY

The three partners involved not only believe that it can be done, but also, wholeheartedly, that it should  be done.

The Broadleaf Preserve project began as an idea in a private small area plan commissed in 2018 by the Historic Toxaway Foundation.

For the past several years, three organizations — HTF, the developers of Village At Longcliff (a 106-acre planned community currently under construction along the NC-64 corridor) and North American Land Trust (NALT) logoNorth American Land Trust (NALT)—have been in discussions to consider the future use of 44 acres of the Longcliff parcel that is preserved through a dedicated conservation easement. This parcel could remain private land with limited or no access outside of Longcliff’s future residents.

Instead, we collectively propose that it become a public-access natural recreation and educational resource to benefit all residents of and visitors to the Toxaway/Sapphire community.

That is the promise and the plan of Broadleaf Preserve.
